Center for Student Opportunity is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting college access and opportunity for first-generation and other historically underserved student populations. With charitable support from the principals of Student Horizons, Inc. and Colleges of Distinction, CSO assists in college preparation and guidance for this student demographic and collaborates with colleges in improving campus outreach, recruitment, and retention efforts. CSO initiatives are threefold: CSO College Center - an online clearinghouse of college programs and admissions information serving first-generation and historically underserved student populations . Counseling Outreach - with the pro bono support of expert college counselors across the country, CSO facilitates outreach partnerships with under-resourced schools and community youth organizations to increase college preparation and guidance services reaching our target student demographic. Program Development - CSO collaborates with colleges and universities to grow and improve campus programs surrounding community outreach, student recruitment, and retention.
