Colleges of Distinction
The Colleges of Distinction
is a unique group of 200+ colleges and universities that excel at 1)
engaging students, 2) providing outstanding teaching, 3) offering
vibrant communities, and 4) producing successful outcomes, the pillars
of a strong and active undergraduate education.
The guidebook assists high school students and parents
in finding colleges that suit individual personalities and career objectives. Because
the majority of college-bound teenagers do not attend the elite, name-brand institutions
found on commercial rankings lists, the Colleges of Distinction guidebook highlights
four-year institutions that are considered "hidden gems."
The book will incorporate
multi-page profiles of the chosen schools and an introduction describing the
importance of the four criteria above, written by a task force of college presidents,
academic deans and faculty, enrollment managers, high school parents, and high school
and college students.
